Answers to the things parents ask most often about Yayby. If you don't see your question here, email us — we read every message.
For anything — a question, a bug report, a print-book order query, or just a hello — write to support@yayby.com. Yayby is built by one independent developer, so replies are thoughtful rather than scripted.
Download Yayby from the App Store on any iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later. Open the app, go through the brief onboarding, add your baby (name, date of birth, optional photo), and start tagging photos or videos against any of the 100+ curated milestone templates (plus unlimited custom ones). No account required; no password; no sign-up.
Yes. Yayby is a universal iPhone and iPad app as of v1.1, with adaptive layouts for both form factors. iCloud sync works across every Apple device on the same Apple ID.
Not currently. Yayby is iPhone and iPad only (iOS 17 or later), built on Apple-native frameworks (SwiftData, CloudKit, StoreKit 2). Families with mixed devices typically install Yayby on at least one iPhone or iPad in the household.
Yes. Multi-baby support is built in — no upgrade required. Each baby has independent milestones, a separate growth chart, and their own printed-book runs. Particularly useful for twins or close-in-age siblings.
Yayby is free to download and try. A one-time unlock of US $59.99 unlocks every core feature forever. No recurring subscription on core app features. Printed baby books are priced separately per book, per size, in your local currency.
Not on core app features. Yayby uses a one-time unlock. Printed books are priced per book. We specifically wanted to avoid adding yet another recurring subscription to your household ecosystem.
When you're ready, tap the unlock prompt in Settings or on any feature gate. Apple handles the purchase through your Apple ID.
Open Yayby, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchase. Apple will reconfirm your purchase from your Apple ID and unlock the app on this device. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used originally.
Refunds for the app unlock are handled directly by Apple through the App Store, since Apple processes all in-app purchases. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and request a refund for the Yayby unlock. For printed-book refunds, email support@yayby.com with your order details — pre-ship orders can usually be cancelled, post-ship orders cannot (standard for made-to-order print).
Yayby uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your baby records, milestones, and growth data across every iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple ID. Photos and videos sync via an app-specific iCloud ubiquity container. Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud. Sync is automatic; there's no manual button.
Four things to check. (1) Both devices signed in to the same Apple ID. (2) iCloud Drive enabled on both devices. (3) Sufficient iCloud storage quota available. (4) An active network connection. Initial sync can take a few minutes for a large library. If still stuck, email support@yayby.com.
No — as long as you sign in to the same Apple ID on the new device and iCloud Drive is enabled, Yayby's data re-syncs automatically. This is one of the reasons Yayby uses Apple's CloudKit rather than a proprietary backend: phone transitions are a solved problem inside Apple's ecosystem.
Yes, via Apple's iCloud sharing — parents on the same Apple ID (or in some Family Sharing configurations) see the same data. For separated or blended families, a common pattern is to keep the source-of-truth on one parent's device and periodically AirDrop or Messages-share moments or printed-book exports with the other parent.
Yes to both. Milestones can be renamed per-baby (so standard "first word" can become "first 'mama'" for one child), reordered via a drag-to-reorder edit mode, or hidden. You can also create fully custom milestones from scratch.
Yes. Voice notes are a first-class attachment. Apple's on-device Speech framework transcribes them so they're searchable later, and the original audio stays with the milestone.
Yes. Milestones can include both photos and videos. Videos are stored in your own iCloud ubiquity container alongside photos.
Add weight, height, or head-circumference measurements any time. Yayby plots the values against WHO child-growth percentile reference data, in metric or imperial units. The x-axis switches from months to years after age 2. Growth tracking is reference only, not medical diagnosis — for any concern, speak to a pediatrician.
Tap Print Book in Settings or the Profile tab. Choose a book size, review which milestones to include, enter a shipping address, and pay via Stripe. Prodigi fulfils and ships worldwide. Prices show in your local currency (AUD, USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, or CAD). You'll receive status updates as the book is produced and shipped.
Production + shipping time varies by region, typically 1–3 weeks once the order is confirmed. Prodigi sends status updates at each stage. Yayby itself is hands-off on fulfilment — your book is printed and shipped by Prodigi's regional network.
Pre-ship cancellation is possible if the order hasn't yet been sent to Prodigi's printers. Email support@yayby.com as soon as possible with your order details. Once a book has entered production or shipped, cancellation isn't possible — standard for made-to-order print products.
Email support@yayby.com with photos of the damage and your order details. Prodigi's print policy covers manufacturing defects and shipping damage — we'll arrange a replacement.
In your own iCloud. Yayby uses Apple's CloudKit plus an app-specific iCloud ubiquity container (iCloud.com.yayby.dev). Photos and videos never reach Yayby's servers. Our backend only handles the commerce flows (unlock purchase verification and print-book order workflow). It never sees user content.
No. Zero third-party analytics SDKs, no Firebase, no Facebook SDK, no ad networks, no Crashlytics. Yayby collects no personal data and runs no telemetry.
Settings → Delete My Data. This performs a full wipe: every photo and video in Yayby's on-device storage, every SwiftData record (babies, milestones, growth entries, print orders), the iCloud key-value sync state, AppStorage keys, and any print-order history on the backend. After deletion, the app returns to a fresh onboarding state — equivalent to deleting and reinstalling from scratch.
Yayby uses no analytics SDKs and doesn't store user baby content on its backend — which dramatically narrows the GDPR surface. The minimal backend data (anonymous unlock-purchase tokens, optional email if you provided one during onboarding, print-order shipping address + status) is handled per standard GDPR principles and can be wiped via the in-app Delete My Data flow.
